Theatre West Virginia :: Book by Kermit Hunter, Music by Ewel Cornett & Jack Kilpatrick ... To fight with or against Virginia — that question affected the life of every person who lived in the state. HONEY IN THE ROCK tells the story of the tumultuous Civil War birth of West Virginia. This vibrant show is filled with drama, intrigue, antics, music and romance. This is a dramatic piece of history encased by the romantic and tragic era of the Civil War. Performed every summer since 1961 in Grandview National Park. I can still sing the West Virginia theme song that we closed the show with: "Oh, the West Virginia Hills! How majestic and how grand..."
